Tips for first time water rafters

Water rafting is sure to be exciting. If this is your first time, you may probably looking for tips and reading on how to make the most of this outdoor water activity that will only include you, your inflatable rafts, and paddle. Remember that no matter how easy water rafting may look like, it is still essential that you prepare yourself for this one fun and exciting activity.

Learning to water raft is easy. All you need to do is learn the basics of water rafting then you’re good to go. Also, you must learn how to identify the parts of an inflatable boat raft. The key to a successful water rafting is to know the gear you are using.

You must also learn how to paddle correctly. Because it will be your first time, it is important that you come with an experienced water rafting sports enthusiast. He or she will teach how to hold the paddle properly as welll as teach you how to turn and stop the
inflatable raft.

If you are bent on learning how to water raft, you must also learn how to swim because you might fall out anytime. While you will be wearing a life jacket, it is best that you know how to swim because you don’t know what can happen. You don’t have to always rely on your companion or the life vest. It’s also no good if you spend a lot of time worrying about falling out or drowning rather than enjoying your time at an inflatable raft. So it is more advisable that you learn atleast basic swimming, treading, or floating before you step on the inflatable raft and paddle your way on the other side of the river.

You may start with the most basic water rafting river level. Being courageous is necessary but this is just your first time. Once you get the hang of being in an inflatable boat and directing it with a paddle while braving the river, you can graduate to a more difficult level.

As first time water rafters, you must also wear light clothes that dry easily. Since you will obviously be soaked wet, you may wear swimsuit or trunk under your shorts and wear water shoes instead of flip-flops lest you want to lose them. Leave your other valuable items like jewelry or expensive watches because you don’t need them. Always remember to wear helmet and hold your paddle properly.

Also, prior to getting on the inflatable boats, you must take a light meal. Water rafting can be tiring and you sure don’t want to get hungry during the river rafting course. You can’t bring food or drink on the raft so make sure you have food in your stomach.
